Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has lauded Ghana’s performance following their resounding 5–0 victory over the Central African Republic in Morocco.
Speaking exclusively to EIB Sports, the nation’s all-time top scorer expressed delight that the convincing win has effectively secured Ghana’s place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup with one game to spare.
“It means a lot to us, the delegation that came to support the team, and the entire nation that was waiting for this victory. I don’t think we prayed for this kind of margin, but the boys have done incredibly well. They’ve built a legacy for themselves, and now we’re very close to the World Cup,” Gyan said.
He added, “We cannot depend on another team’s result to determine our qualification. The margin and confidence the Black Stars showed today prove that they’re ready, and I’m confident we’ll qualify for the World Cup.”
The emphatic win places Ghana firmly at the top of their qualifying group, with only a draw needed against Comoros on Sunday to book their ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
