President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has alleged that Finance Minister, Cassiel Ato Forson, expressed shock over certain revenue-related practices shortly after assuming office.
Speaking on Starr Chat with Bola Ray on Starr 103.5FM on Thursday, April 9, 2026, Franklin Cudjoe recounted a private conversation he claimed to have had with the minister two weeks after his appointment.
According to him, the Finance Minister reached out with concerns about maintaining integrity in office. “Two weeks after he get into office, he calls me, said Charlie, I don’t want to be a bad politician. I don’t want anybody to soil my name,” he recounted.
He further alleged that the minister raised concerns about how certain revenues are handled within the system.
“As soon as I got here, some people came to see me and said, Charlie this is where they eat from… this is where they paid all these things that we have, but we never trace it to the consolidated fund because you never really see it,” he quoted.
Cudjoe clarified that the remarks were not an accusation against the Finance Ministry, but highlighted the potential for misuse within systems lacking transparency.

“I’m not saying that the Finance Ministry is hiding or anything… I’m just saying that you can actually be a clever thief, you can be a clever fool, or you can be a clever… if you play ball. It depends what you want to do at the ministry,” he added.
He emphasised that the minister was deeply troubled by what he encountered. “And he said he was mortified,” Cudjoe noted.
