Bawumia deserves credit for exceptional, progressive policies – Dr. Evans Duah

Dr. Evans Duah, a chartered accountant, Economist, and public speaker, has defended the track record of the President Akufo-Addo – Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia administration insisting that the first four years of the NPP’s governance, before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, were marked by exceptional progress and impactful policies.

He made the assertion while providing compelling reasons why Ghanaians should consider Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s presidential candidate in Ghana’s pending Presidential elections during a discussion on Ultimate FM’s “Cup of Tea” with host Julius Caesar Anadem.

Dr. Duah a one-time aspirant in the parliamentary primaries of the NPP in the Ejisu Constituency, highlighted several initiatives the government introduced, which, in his words, “changed the face of development in the country.”

“Because the human resources of every nation are the core of the development of that nation, H.E Nana Akuffo Addo prioritized education and employability of the people of Ghana first. This is why He implemented the Free Senior High School policy, which has provided opportunities for countless Ghanaian students to access secondary education without financial barriers,” he commended.

“This policy,” Dr. Duah noted, “has improved educational outcomes and paved the way for the youth to compete globally.”

He further underscored the success of the One District, One Factory initiative, which aimed at boosting local manufacturing and creating job opportunities across the country.

Dr. Duah firmly believes these initiatives were game-changers, despite the disruptions caused by the pandemic.

Discussing external economic pressures, Dr. Duah explained the impact of global events like the Gaza conflict and the Ukraine-Russia war.

He argued that these situations have strained Ghana’s economy because the country relies on imports from these regions.

“The reality is that these conflicts disrupt global supply chains, and a nation like Ghana cannot remain unaffected,” he said.

He noted that the NPP’s extensive investments in critical infrastructure was unparalleled in Ghana’s modern history.

“No government has constructed more roads than the NPP,” he remarked, adding that the administration has significantly bolstered the health sector by providing ambulances and improving emergency response capabilities.

“Additionally, the police force has been equipped with more vehicles, enhancing public safety and security,” he praised.

Dr. Duah also shed light on Dr. Bawumia’s pioneering digitalization agenda, which he argued has revolutionized the delivery of government services and increased efficiency. Bawumia’s focus on digital transformation, according to Dr. Duah, positions Ghana for a tech-driven future.

Dr. Duah concluded his remarks by encouraging Ghanaians to weigh the long-term benefits of the NPP’s policies. He believes Dr. Bawumia’s leadership can continue driving Ghana toward prosperity, especially with his innovative approaches to governance and economic management.
