The Paramount Chief of Lower Dixcove, Nana Akwesi Agyeman IX, has made a passionate call for a change in the voting behavior of the people in the Ahanta West Municipality, citing years of neglect and underdevelopment as the basis for his appeal.
“We don’t have a single tarred road in this municipality. If you are an Ahanta and don’t know who to vote for, then something may be wrong with you. All our roads are in terrible condition,” he declared during a retail rally addressed by the National Chairman of the NDC, Asiedu Nketia, at Apowa.
He lamented the state of the municipality, stating, “Everything is bad. It’s as if we are not part of Ghana. When you speak the truth, others take offense.”
Nana Agyeman urged the people to embrace change to end the cycle of underdevelopment. He emphasized that while traditional leaders consistently advocate for progress, their efforts are futile without the active support of the populace.
He also revealed plans to confront President Akufo-Addo during his upcoming visit to the Western Regional House of Chiefs. “I will make it clear to him that from Apowa to the endpoint of this municipality Miamia , there is nothing to show for their government.”
Expressing his frustration, he added, “For the past eight years, we have nothing to point to as a benefit from this government. It’s sad, but we are hopeful that this year God will speak. We are also children of God—why must we suffer so much?”
