Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is expected to lead a government delegation to Sierra Leone today August 19, 2017 to commiserate with the government and people of Sierra Leone.
This followed a mudslide disaster that hit the country, leaving over 400 dead and about 600 missing in the capital, Freetown.
The Ghana Government yesterday Friday, 18 August 2017, airlifted relief items worth $1million to the disaster hit Western African country to support recovery process.
The items comprised food, medicines, clothing and logistics for temporary shelter.
Mass burials were held on the outskirts of the Sierra Leone capital Freetown for the 400 people known to have died in the disaster.
Some 3,000 people are homeless in what is being described as a humanitarian emergency in the West African nation as search efforts continue for an estimated 600 people still missing since Monday.
President Akufo-Addo took to his twitter handle to express his sadness over the tragic incident and console the people of Sierra Leone.
