QNET supported EOCO in the repatriation of 33 Burkinabe nationals rescued during a July anti-trafficking operation linked to a suspected travel scam syndicate.

QNET has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting law-enforcement authorities in Ghana and across West Africa in the fight against human trafficking, fraudulent recruitment schemes and other forms of transnational organised crime.

The company’s support follows an anti-trafficking operation conducted by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) on July 21, 2026, which resulted in the rescue and arrest of 44 foreign nationals believed to be connected to a travel scam syndicate.

The operation was conducted with support from QNET following a regional law-enforcement workshop jointly organised by EOCO, INTERPOL and QNET in Ghana in July.

The workshop focused on the “Model Q Modus Operandi” and sought to strengthen the capacity of law-enforcement officers across West and Central Africa to identify, disrupt and investigate emerging forms of transnational organised crime, including human trafficking, migrant smuggling, digital fraud and deceptive recruitment schemes.

The 44 foreign nationals rescued during the operation comprised 34 nationals of Burkina Faso, eight from Côte d’Ivoire, one from Mali and one from Nigeria.

Following preliminary screening in collaboration with the respective diplomatic missions, 33 Burkinabe nationals were repatriated on August 13, 2026, and handed over to INTERPOL Burkina Faso at the Paga Border Post on August 14.

QNET said its support forms part of broader efforts to work with law-enforcement agencies, the Burkina Faso Embassy in Ghana and other stakeholders to address criminal networks that misuse the QNET name to deceive members of the public through fraudulent employment, travel and business-related schemes.

EOCO said the operation demonstrated the importance of timely information-sharing and cooperation between law enforcement, the private sector and international partners.

The agency also acknowledged the cooperation from QNET, INTERPOL and other stakeholders in efforts to identify and disrupt criminal networks exploiting vulnerable individuals through fraudulent recruitment and related schemes.

It further reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening such partnerships to protect the public and combat organised crime.

QNET’s Regional General Manager for Central and West Africa, Cherif Sarr, said criminal networks misusing the company’s name not only damage trust but also expose vulnerable people to potential harm.

“Criminal networks that misuse QNET’s name damage trust and, more importantly, put vulnerable people at risk. We have a responsibility to act when we become aware of such activity,” he said.

According to him, the company will continue to share information with authorities, support investigations and help members of the public verify legitimate QNET opportunities.

QNET has also established a Compliance Office in Accra where relevant authorities and media organisations can seek information or clarification regarding suspected misuse of the company’s name.

The company urged members of the public to exercise caution when approached with offers that appear to guarantee employment, travel opportunities or other benefits while falsely claiming to represent QNET.

QNET said it would continue working with relevant authorities and stakeholders across Africa to support efforts against fraud, human trafficking, deceptive recruitment and other criminal activities involving misuse of its name.
