President Akufo-Addo has comforted the Black Starlets after losing to their Malian counterparts at the just ended Africa U-17 tournament
The President in a tweet posted: “Better luck next time to the Starlets. We are proud of you. Now, unto the world championships. Make Ghana proud.”
The defending Champions could have been two goals up before the break after Facinet Doss Soumah fluffed a golden opportunity in the 43rd minute.
Mamadou Samake scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot after Ghana defender John Otu had brought down Mali attacker Facinet Doss Soumah in the penalty.
Mali thus win their second successive title joining the likes of Ghana, Nigeria and Gambia as the only African sides to have won the competition on two occasions.
