Chief Justice Justice Paul-Baffoe has sworn in fifty-two new Circuit Court judges, comprising 40 Magistrates and 12 lawyers, at a short ceremony in Accra.

Addressing the moment as marking a significant milestone in their lives, the CJ urged them to “avoid situations that compromise your impartiality.”

He said the promotion bestowed on them greater responsibility and they must discharge their duties without fear or favour.

Justice Baffoe-Bonnie said their elevation is a demonstration of their dedicated service and patience.

The CJ said the decision they have taken will have an impact on their personal lives, families, and businesses, and while doing so, they must discharge it judiciously, transparently, and in accordance with the law.

The CJ also reminded them of the need to work with integrity, show competence, and be fair in the discharge of their duties and must deliver judgments that are clear and legally reasoned.

The President of the Ghana Bar Association said it is of utmost importance that the judges uphold the sanctity of the judiciary and remain free from any undue interference.

She assured them of the Bar’s support as they transition to their new roles.
