Competition moves to next level on Maltavator Challenge

Hosted by our very own Berla Mundi the Pan-African TV series the Maltavator Challenge reached new heights this week as more contestants took each other on in a series of physical and mental challenges.

This week colossus Simon Cephas and smooth character Daniel Yin were each playing for a place in the next round of this Pan-African competition. It’s all about brains and brawn as each contestant must show their physical abilities as well as their brain power in a series of fun challenges.

Simon is most definitely a formidable opponent and anyone looking to take him on could be forgiven for being nervous. Behind his tough guy exterior however, is a staunch family man, who was taking on the Maltavator challenge to win money to buy a plot of land to build on for himself and his family. Daniel, himself, was much more understated and modest moving into the challenges.

The Maltavator Challenge TV show has been developed to celebrate the can-do attitude of Ghanaians who use their positive attitude and mental agility to turn goodness into greatness every day. Malta Guinness is a premium adult soft drink, packed full of goodness with vitamins and slow release energy, Malta Guinness Goodness has been fuelling the Greatness of consumers for over 30 years.

Action-packed to the max, this week’s show saw eight contestants from four countries battling it out for a place in the next round and a chance to win the grand prize of $20,000.

Each week for the first five shows, its teammate v teammate, as two contestants from Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast and Ethiopia take on the Maltavator, testing their physical and mental strength against the clock; before going head to head in a jousting challenge, and finishing up by seeing who could make it up and down the Malta Volcano in the fastest time.  The fastest five contestants from each country will make it through to the next round, so there is everything to play for.

Both contestants showed what they were made of as they entered the Maltavator Challenge obstacle course, flying through tyres and leaping over raised obstacles. The real battle, however, came when the guys moved to the jousting challenge. Often slow paced and a place for fair play, this week Simon was determined to knock his fellow Ghanaian Daniel off the pedastel. Moving in with some aggressive hits, it seemed like it might be very soon over for Simon, who held fast. Simon however, made his move too strongly aiming to swipe away Daniel with a low blow, and instead unbalancing himself and falling to the ground. This misjudged move may have cost himself a place in the next round but also delivered Daniel his golden ticket to the next stage and to $20K USD!

Next week will see the last of the first round stages of the competition, so make sure you tune in to catch the action and find out who will be representing Nigeria in the next round of the Maltavator Challenge.
