Lovinghearts Geriatric Care International a non-governmental organization that provides free medical and humanitarian support to the elderly and vulnerable in hard to reach communities across Ghana has provided foodstuff and facemasks to hundreds of elderly.
The organization gave to elderly in five communities across five Covid-19 affected regions in the country.
Beneficiaries received bags of rice, tins of sardines/mackerel, tomato paste, bottles of vegetable cooking oil and locally made face masks. They were also offered Health education on the fight against the virus.
In an interview with Dr. Evans Aboagye, organisation, he revealed that available data showed that the elderly are the worst affected by the pandemic in terms of mortality and morbidity therefore the need to make the care and support of them a priority in our bid to mitigate the effects of Covid 19.
He used the opportunity to appeal to other philanthropists, cooperate society and Government to join forces with Lovinghearts G.C International to support the Elderly in society, as the fight against the deadly coronavirus pandemic demands a collective effort.
The donation was led by coordinators: Ms. Doris Kumah (Northern Region), Ms. Regina Kani (Ashanti Region), Ms. Cynthia Ayemin (Central Region), Ms. Hasia Suraj supported by Dr. Jennifer Asamoah (Volta Region) and Ms. Josephine Frempomaa (Eastern Region).
The teams supported the elderly at Kpenoe (Volta region), Ampabame Number 1 in Ahodwo – Kumasi (Ashanti region), Ankarful Leprosarium Community (Central region), Lahagu in Tamale (Northern region) and Otokpulu in the Eastern region.
