The Rotary Club of Winneba has donated Personal Protection Equipment (PPEs) and other medical items to the Winneba Trauma and Specialists Hospital.

The donation follows an appeal by the hospital for support to deal with situations relating to Coronavirus at the facility.

The hospital is among four other health centres designated to serve as isolation centres to attend to persons infected by CNVID-19.

Aside the PPE’s, Rotary Club also donated Veronica Buckets, sanitizers , surgical masks , gloves and other medical accessories to the hospital.

Speaking to Starr News, President of the Rotary Club, Mr. Epherem Kwaa-Aidoo, stated that the donation is to support efforts aimed at dealing with the devastating effect of COVID-19 even as the centre serves as an isolation centre.

He indicated that health promotion is a collective responsibility and that the group will continue to support the hospital in advancing quality health care to the people in the area.

He added that the group in their quest to support humanity especially in the field of health promotion has been partnering some other hospitals in the Winneba enclave to undertake medical screening and other outreach programmes .

He stressed that the move is ultimately aimed at improving the health needs of the people so that they could contribute meaningfully to the country’s development.

Public Image Director of the Club, Dr. Gifty Appiah-Agyei also urged the health workers to make good use of the donated items in order to keep themselves safe from potential COVID-19 infections.

The Communication and Media Studies lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) , explained that the health workers stand a better chance of advancing quality health care to the patients when they are safe from infections.

She added that families are also dependent on them necessitating that they take good care of them.

She added that it will be unwise for the health workers to expose themselves to diseases through poor use of the items.

On his part , the medical director of the facility, Dr. George Kwame Prah. thanked the Rotary Club for responding to their appeal for help.

He indicated that the logistics will go a long way in supporting the staff to administer quality health care to the patients who are in their care.

He added that the hospital will take good care of the equipment so that it serves they intended purpose.

He also appealed to philanthropists and other well meaning individuals and organisations to support the hospital in fulfilling its mandate of advancing quality health to patients at the hospital.
