In a landmark collaboration, the Crans Montana Forum and the WDA World Diplomatic Academy have announced an initiative to establish a Supreme Council of African Royals. This historic project, developed in partnership with His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene of the Ashanti Kingdom, aims to empower Africa’s Indigenous leadership in addressing the continent’s contemporary challenges.

The initiative will convene Indigenous Rulers from across Africa, recognizing their key roles as custodians of societal values, traditions, and local governance. As Africa faces complex political, social, and economic challenges, traditional leadership is seen as a vital force in promoting progress and innovation while respecting cultural heritage.

HRM Otumfuo Osei Tutu II expressed his support for the Council’s mission, highlighting the potential of Africa’s diverse leadership to positively impact governance at both national and continental levels.

The Supreme Council of African Royals will unite rulers from various African nations, whether their authority is inherited, elected, or appointed through traditional customs. These leaders, already responsible for enforcing laws, representing their communities, and making critical decisions, will now have a platform to collaborate and influence modern governance structures in Africa.

Key goals of the Council include:

  • Recognition and integration of Indigenous leadership into national governance structures.
  • Representation of local community interests at both national and continental levels.
  • Leveraging the influence of Indigenous leaders to promote sustainable development, investment, and international partnerships.
  • Facilitating the integration of traditional values into policy development, ensuring cultural heritage is preserved while fostering modernization.
  • Establishing an international network of partnerships to promote economic cooperation and international relations.

Ambassador Jean-Paul Carteron, Chairman and Founder of the Crans Montana Forum, met with HRM Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at his palace in Kumasi on September 23, 2024, to discuss the initial steps of the project. They agreed to hold a strategic meeting in Geneva on November 15–16, 2024, to gather key figures of the initiative. This will be followed by an official launch in April 2025, with a prestigious ceremony in Kumasi, Ghana, marking the formal establishment of the Supreme Council of African Royals.

This initiative represents a monumental step toward inclusive governance, sustainable development, and fostering cross-cultural collaboration** both within Africa and internationally.
