Election 2024: Mahama to win with 51%, Bawumia 37% – Global InfoAnalytics

A recent poll by Global InfoAnalytics reveals that former President John Dramani Mahama holds a commanding lead in the December 2024 general elections, with 51.1% of committed voters backing him.”The final field poll conducted by Global InfoAnalytics, nearly two months before December 2024 shows John Dramani Mahama (IDM), the leader of the opposition National Democratic Congress, maintains his lead in the poll with 51.1% of the votes.”

His closest rival, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), follows at 37.3%, while independent candidates Nana Kwame Bediako and Alan Kyeremanten are polling at 6.2% and 4.1%, respectively.”The vice president and the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia (DMB) is on 37.3%, Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten (AKK), an independent candidate on 4.1%, Nana Kwame Bediako, an independent candidate also on 6.2% and others on 1.3% (weighted committed voters’ model).”

The report highlights Mahama’s growing popularity, particularly among undecided or floating voters, where he has a 54% lead compared to Bawumia’s 23%. This 31-point gap is significant, as it shows Mahama gaining a notable edge. “Mahama attracts 96% of his base, while Bawumia secures 88%, giving Mahama an 8-point advantage,” the poll indicated.

The poll also points to a significant shift in voter allegiance from the NPP to the NDC in critical regions like Greater Accra and Central. “In Greater Accra, 20% of those who voted for Nana Addo in 2020 have switched to Mahama, and in the Central region, 37% have done the same,” according to the report.

Economic issues remain the dominant concern of voters, with 70% citing the economy, 62% focusing on jobs, and 48% emphasizing education as key factors. “Economy, jobs and education remain the top issues for voters according to the poll as 70% of the issues cited as important was the economy, followed by jobs, 62% and Education, 48%”, the report states.
