The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has promised to improve the fortunes of agriculture and fisheries to enhance the living standards of farmers and fishermen.
Under its Cocoa miracle programme, the CPP says it will provide guaranteed market and price for all cash crops including cassava and oil palm.
No foreign fishing trawlers will also be allowed to operate in Ghana’s economic fishing zone to protect the interest of Ghanaian fisherfolk.
CPP flagbearer Ivor Kobina Greenstreet made this known when he met the Okuapem Hemaa and Ga Mantse to seek their blessings for his 2020 election bid.
Mr Greensreet said for 28 years, the government’s of the two major parties namely the NPP and NDC have not benefitted all Ghanaians apart from their cronies.
“Why are 60 percent of our youth unemployed or underemployed? All the problems you see in this area is because of lack of opportunities, employment, direction an skills. If they have failed there is nothing wrong with failing but you don’t continue to repeat failing because then the name changes. It is time to reclaim the nation and take the country from those who have been controlling it in the direction that benefits themselves and not the people”, he said.
Mr. Greensreet said he intends to complete the unprecedented development agenda of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah contrary to claims that a vote for the CPP is a wasted one.
The Ga Mantse King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II made a strong case for the rebuilding of the country’s institutions and structures to enhance democratic growth.
He also suggested the use of a national development agenda that binds all government’s irrespective of political ideologies.
On her part, the Okuapem Hemaa Nana Afia Nketia Obuo II asked the CPP flagbearer and his supporters to eschew acts that will mar the peaceful conduct of next month’s elections.
The queen mother gave her blessings to Ivor Kobina Greenstreet who hails from the Okuapem royal gate.
