Education think-thank Africa Education Watch has recommended a high-level inquiry into the 2021 WASSCE questions leakage.
It comes after 2021 WASSCE papers leaked. The report further showed how some syndicates profiteered from the system by selling the leaked questions.
Speaking to Starr News, Policy Associate with Education Watch Cletus SungDong called on the ministry of education to develop a comprehensive roadmap to reform the country’s external assessment system.
He said “Africa Education Watch’s recommendation is that we expect as a matter of urgency, the ministry of education as a matter of fact develop and commit through a consultation stakeholders process and a comprehensive roadmap to reforming our external assessment system”
He further indicated “because this is where we are close to the problem. So we expect that much effort should be directed towards reforming our external assessment system so that at the end of the day, I will come on board, the parents will come on board, the student will come on board, the media will come on board and we all will bring our ideas to solve this problem of examination leakages and malpractices within our school system”
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education on September 20, denied accusations that several papers in the 2021 WASSCE were leaked, prompting some papers to be rescheduled are false.
Deputy Spokesperson at the Ministry Yaw Opoku Mensah said the papers in question were put on hold to investigate portions of the question that went out in the media space and not because of the leaks.
