Institute for Energy Security (IES) says it is common sense that the government through Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) provides the nation with a time table on the prevailing power crisis.
This comes on the back of the government being adamant to admit that there is a power crisis in the nation.
Most parts of Accra and other regions have been experiencing power outages for days with no prior notice from the ECG or GridCo.
Speaking on Morning Starr with Francis Abban, the Executive Director for IES, Nana Amusi says a time table to the public on the power outages should be a major move by the government.
“It is just fair and common sense to think the same that you give a table out so that people can plan their lives and guide people as to when to expect power and when not to expect power. So that they can plan their businesses and daily lives and it has been the tradition,” Nana Amusi stated.
According to him, ECG and NEDCo have failed to provide the time because the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) is trumpeting that they have solved dumsor also known as power outages.
“But in the last few weeks, GridCo in particular has not told us what is causing them not to have enough power in order to transmit to ECG and NEDCo. ECG and NEDCo are not willing to put out any time table because a government claim that ‘I have dealt with dumsor,” IES Executive Director indicated.
