The Chief Executive of the Volta River Authority (VRA), Mr. Edward Ekow Obeng-Kenzo, has been honored as the Chief Executive of the Year for the Energy Sector at the 10th Ghana CEO Summit held at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City, Accra.

This is the second consecutive time the VRA Chief Executive has been honored at the Ghana CEO Summit for the same award. The first award was received in 2025 which made evident the towering leadership influenceexhibited by Mr. Edward Obeng-Kenzo in Ghana’s energy sector.

Mr. Obeng-Kenzo was recognized for his exemplary leadership, strategic direction and significant contribution to the growth and transformation of Ghana’s energy sector.

Togbi Afede XIV presented the award to the VRA Chief Executive, which was met with thunderous applause from the audience present at the ceremony.

This award honors outstanding leadership exhibited by a Chief Executive in Ghana’s energy sector which has significantly contributed to the socio-economic development of the country. VRA in 2025 was noted for reliably delivering electricity to meet the nation’s energy needs at a time when energy demand significantly rose. The premier power generation company was celebrated for being the reliable source of affordable electricity for Ghana and the West African sub region.

This award recognized Mr. Kenzo’s sterling leadership which has propelled the Authority forward, enhanced its operational efficiency, and reinforced its role as a key driver of Ghana’s socio-economic advancement.

The VRA delegation present at the ceremony were Samel Kwesi Fletcher (Deputy Chief Executive Services), Jacob Fosu Kyei (Director Procurement) Clement Boakye (Director Corporate Strategy), Joyce Offei Asiedu (Director Human Resources) and other officers from the Authority.

The Authority also exhibited its Valued Added Services offering as well as the training programs on offer at the VRA Academy in the designated booths at the event as part of its sponsorship package. This afforded VRA the opportunity to increase brand visibility and greater access to its services.
