More than 50 individuals have been arrested for allegedly engaging in vote manipulation, including secretly transferring votes and directing voters to different polling centres.

Sources close to GHOne News reported that some of the suspects have been detained at Burma Camp, while others have been transferred to the Cantonments Police Station for further investigation.

Dzifa Gunu, the constituency secretary for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), spoke to GHOne News, revealing that she was alerted to suspicious activities at an event centre near Chado.

“This morning when the voting process had started, we had information to the effect that some activities were happening at an event centre close to Chado, so I drove there randomly, and I chanced upon some activities going on, where certain ladies and gentlemen with laptops and exercise books branded with Okoe Boye’s image were processing some people there; I don’t know where they brought them from. They were processing and sending them to Ledzokuku to vote. We questioned the modality for doing that. We reported to the police, they came in, they picked u some of them and some escaped.”

Gunu also claimed that military personnel, not in uniform, were part of the operation. “I can say on authority that there were some military personnel part of the exercise who were not in uniforms. When the alram was raised, they came in to disrupt the process but we didn’t allow and we allowed the police to send them to cantonments” she added.

The police are investigating the matter, and authorities have assured the public that steps are being taken to maintain the integrity of the electoral process.
