Emmanuel Issah Abudu, a grassroots politician from the Upper East Region and two-term Youth Organiser of the NDC USA Chapter, has declared his intention to contest the position of Deputy National Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) when nominations officially open.

Mr Abudu, who has been actively involved in the NDC Youth Wing in Ghana and the diaspora, said his decision is driven by a desire to serve young people and contribute to strengthening the party’s youth structures. He has been involved in youth organisation, mobilisation and party activities over the years.

He played a role in the NDC’s 2024 election campaign after joining the National Youth Wing campaign team and touring parts of the country to mobilise support for the party. He also contributed to efforts to mobilise resources from Ghana and the diaspora in support of the Youth Wing and the 2024 campaign.

“The current National Youth Organiser and his deputies have built a solid, vibrant and formidable Youth Wing. My intention is to help continue from that strong foundation, strengthen what has been built and work with the next leadership to take the Youth Wing even further,” Mr Abudu said.

He said his ambition was not motivated by personal advancement but by a commitment to addressing the concerns of young members of the party, particularly those at the grassroots.

“This is not about me. It is about the young people of our party who continue to sacrifice for the NDC and deserve leaders who will go all out for them. I am a product of the grassroots, and I understand the sacrifices our young people make every day for this party,” he added.

Mr Abudu’s political experience spans active participation in TEIN and the NDC Youth Wing in Ghana, as well as organising and mobilising young party members in the diaspora.

He believes this experience gives him a unique perspective on strengthening links between the party’s youth structures in Ghana and abroad.

As part of his planned campaign, Mr Abudu and his team are expected to engage regional, constituency and branch youth organisers, TEIN leaders, party executives, grassroots activists and other stakeholders on the future direction of the NDC Youth Wing.

His campaign is expected to focus on youth empowerment, employment and entrepreneurship, skills development, TEIN empowerment, stronger youth structures, leadership development and greater inclusion of diaspora youth in the party’s activities.

Mr Abudu said the next chapter of the NDC Youth Wing must build on the gains made by the current leadership while creating greater opportunities for young people who continue to serve as the backbone of the party.
