Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has directed Chief Directors and audit heads across all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to significantly reduce audit infractions recorded in the Auditor-General’s Report to the barest minimum in the coming year.

Dr. Forson delivered the directive at a high-level meeting convened to chart a decisive roadmap for implementing the recommendations contained in the 2024 Auditor-General’s Report. He expressed deep concern over the persistence of waste, irregularities, and avoidable financial breaches that continue to drain scarce national resources.
“We cannot continue to lose scarce national resources through infractions that are completely avoidable. Ghana deserves better,” he said.

He warned that recurrent violations of public financial management rules send the wrong signal to investors and development partners, and risk eroding the peace, stability, and renewed confidence Ghana has worked hard to rebuild amid recent economic reforms.
Dr. Forson reminded the officials that specialized courts have now been established to prosecute breaches of financial and procurement laws, signaling government’s readiness to enforce sanctions where necessary.
“This is a new chapter. Accountability will no longer be optional,” Dr. Forson declared, adding that discipline in public financial management is not only a requirement but “a duty we owe to every Ghanaian.”
