The Presiding Magistrate at the Takoradi District Court, His Worship Michael Ampadu, has told the public, especially families whose children have been kidnapped, that his interest is to make sure the kidnapped girls are found.
His worship Michael Ampadu said the substantive case of the kidnapping of the three girls has not been properly laid before him because the police are still investigating the matter hence the initial trial of the breaking from lawful custody by the accused Samuel Wills.
He has therefore cautioned the relatives and the public to exercise restraints in their comments about the matter.
He urge them to rather help the police with credible information which will lead to the whereabouts of the girls.
His worship Michael Ampadu further added that such a calamity can befall anyone.
He has subsequently adjourned the case to March 4, 2019 , because the accused person Samuel Wills has led the police on another wild goose chase.
It will be recalled that the accused told the court on February 11th that he was aided to escape from police custody by one Kwesi and a CID.
Head of operations at the BNI Lord Nyatwer said the accused took them to Kansawrodo the community where the three girls were kidnapped but could not find the said Kwesi after combing the area.
Empire News’ Emmanuel Ohene-Gyan who was in court reported that Father of Priscilla Mantsebeah Koranchie, Alexander Kojo Koranchie broke down in tears uncontrollably and had to be consoled by other members. Ohene-Gyan has reported that anger, anguish, frustrations and disappointments were written on the faces of residents who were in court to observe proceedings and also catch a glimpse of the accused Samuel Wills.
Meanwhile, spokesperson for the Diabene community, Charles Kwame Herloo says they are disappointed in the handling of the case and will hit the streets with massive demonstration on February 22 to register their displeasure.
