The Ministry of the Interior has immediately suspended the Private Security Organisation (PSO) operating licence of Kantanka Security Services Limited following reports of alleged serious regulatory violations.

In an official statement released today, the Ministry cited incidents that occurred on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at Kwabenya in Accra, where personnel of the company reportedly used unprescribed uniforms and were in possession and use of firearms and ammunition while providing private security services.

“The Ministry of the Interior has, with immediate effect, suspended the Private Security Organisation (PSO) operating licence for Kantanka Security Services Limited,” the statement read.

The decision follows preliminary investigations that indicated possible breaches of the Police Service (Private Security Organisations) Regulations, 1992 (L.I. 1571), which governs the operations of private security firms in Ghana.

The Ministry described the alleged use of unauthorised uniforms, firearms, ammunition, and security accoutrements as a “serious breach with significant implications for public safety and security.”

“As a result, Kantanka Security Services Limited has been directed to cease all operations forthwith pending the conclusion of full investigations. All institutions and members of the public have been advised to refrain from conducting business with the company until further notice.

The Ministry has also instructed the company to fully cooperate with the Ghana Police Service and provide all necessary information to facilitate a thorough investigation,” the statement continued.

In the statement, the Ministry sought to reassure the public, noting that the suspension is an administrative measure intended to safeguard public safety and security while investigations are ongoing.

“Appropriate action will be taken upon completion of the investigations and in accordance with the laws and regulations governing private security operations in Ghana,” it added.
