President John Dramani Mahama has directed that all national flags fly at half-mast for three days across Ghana and its missions abroad in honour of the late former First Lady, Her Excellency Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.
The directive, issued on behalf of the Government of Ghana, forms part of a three-day national mourning period to celebrate the life and legacy of Mrs. Agyeman-Rawlings, who passed away earlier this week.
A statement signed by the Minister for Government Communications and Presidential Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, said the period of mourning will run from Friday, October 24 to Sunday, October 26, 2025.
The government explained that the gesture is to honour the memory and service of the former First Lady, whose decades of work in women’s empowerment, child welfare, and social development left a lasting impact on the nation.

“This is in honour of her memory and in recognition of her distinguished service to our nation,” the statement read.
It added that the government and people of Ghana join the bereaved family, her children, and all who mourn her passing, describing the loss as deeply felt and irreplaceable.
“Mrs. Agyeman-Rawlings served Ghana with dedication and commitment,” it added.
The late Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings was the wife of former President Jerry John Rawlings and a pioneering advocate for gender equality and social justice. She founded the 31st December Women’s Movement, which championed initiatives to uplift women and children across the country.
She passed on yesterday, October 23, 2025, at the Greater Accra Hospital, popularly known as Ridge Hospital.
“May her soul rest in perfect peace,” the statement concluded.
