President John Dramani Mahama has declared three days of national mourning on behalf of the Government of Ghana in honour of the late former First Lady, Her Excellency Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.
A statement signed by the Minister for Government Communications and Presidential Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, announced that the period of mourning will run from Friday, October 24 to Sunday, October 26, 2025.
During this period, all national flags will fly at half-mast across public buildings, diplomatic missions, and government installations both in Ghana and abroad.

According to the statement, the decision was taken to honour Mrs. Agyeman-Rawlings’s distinguished service to the nation, particularly her lifelong work in women’s empowerment, child welfare, and social development.
“This is in honour of her memory and in recognition of her distinguished service to our nation,” the statement read.
The government also extended its deepest condolences to her family, describing her passing as an irreplaceable loss to Ghana.
“Mrs. Agyeman-Rawlings served Ghana with dedication and commitment,” the statement added.
The late Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, wife of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, was celebrated for her activism, leadership, and advocacy for gender equality and social justice.
She passed on yesterday, October 23, 2025, at the Greater Accra Hospital, popularly known as Ridge Hospital.
“May her soul rest in perfect peace,” the statement concluded.
