Gold Avenue School and Crystal Heights International School have emerged winners at the 2025 Mezzo Maths Interschool Quiz Competition, held at the British Council Auditorium in Accra on August 6.
The event, which brought together eight schools, tested participants on speed, accuracy, and teamwork in mathematics.
In the Junior High School (JHS) category, Gold Avenue School claimed the top spot with 268 points, followed closely by Abokobi Presby School with 262 points. MyRedeemer School and NT Aim High School scored 254 and 243 points, respectively.
In the Primary School division, Crystal Heights International School secured first place with an impressive 339 points. Republic Academy followed with 285 points, Gold Avenue School came third with 248 points, and Abokobi Presby School placed fourth with 179 points.
The quiz aimed to promote academic excellence and nurture digital skills, teamwork, and confidence among students. It offered a platform for young minds to showcase their mathematical talent and collaborate through healthy competition.
Speaking on behalf of the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Professor Ernest Kofi Davis, a representative praised the initiative, describing the quiz as more than just a competition—it is a platform to shape the next generation of leaders and innovators.
“Mathematics is the foundation of science, technology, and innovation. Any country serious about development must invest in strong maths education,” he said.
Professor Davis also commended the students for their courage and passion for learning, urging parents and teachers to continue supporting children’s academic journeys through such impactful programs.
The founder and CEO of Mezzo Maths and Mezzo House, Bishop Dr. Peter Osei Akoto stated that the competition is designed to unlock the mathematical potential in children. He noted that the program enhances memory, speed, and critical thinking skills.
“When children do mathematics, the nation progresses,” he added.
