Spokesperson for former Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, Lawyer Edudzi Tamekloe has stated that Mr. Julius Debrah is more qualified to be President than all the ten flag bearer hopefuls of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
A number of interest groups and individuals have mentioned Mr. Debrah’s name as a possible running mate to former President John for the 2024 presidential elections.
However, in a statement the former Chief of Staff has dissociated himself from the sentiment expressed in the media by these groups and individuals.
Commenting on the matter, Lawyer Tamekloe indicated that the former Chief of Staff has never made any attempt whatsoever to lobby for the running mate position.
“Honorable Julius Debrah has an enviable career and has lived a good life worthy of emulation. At a point he was the youngest Regional Chairman of our party in the Eastern region. He has risen through the ranks of our party and became a Parliamentary candidate for Suhum constituency. He has done a lot to the point that he became the Chief of Staff at the Presidency.
“You know that within the Executive Arm of Government after the President and Vice the most powerful person is the Chief Staff at the Presidency. He discharged his responsibilities relative to his position as Chief Staff without any issue,” the spokesperson stated.
Lawyer Tamekloe further stated when the time is due former President John Mahama in consultation with the Council of Elders of the NDC will announce his running mate.
“Julius Debrah has what it takes to be President of this republic. Who among the ten flag bearer hopefuls with our brothers the NPP can you say is qualified to be President more than Julius Debrah? None of them,” Mr. Tamekloe stated.
