The children of Akosua Serwaa, the wife of the late highlife icon Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, have publicly distanced themselves from the ongoing legal battle over their father’s funeral arrangements.
In a statement signed by Charlyn Fosuh on behalf of her siblings, the children stressed that they are “not parties to the legal process” initiated by their mother and want no involvement in any disputes regarding the late musician’s burial or funeral plans.
“It has come to our attention that there is an ongoing court process regarding the funeral and burial arrangements of our beloved father, the late Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, affectionately known as Daddy Lumba.
We, the children of Akosua Serwaa and Daddy Lumba, wish to clarify that we are not parties to this legal process and that we do not wish to be involved in any disputes or conflicts surrounding the funeral arrangements,” the statement read.
They emphasized that their only wish is to honour their father’s memory “in a dignified, respectful, and peaceful manner, befitting his remarkable life and contributions.”
According to the statement, the children of Akosua Serwaa stand united with all of Daddy Lumba’s children in love and respect for their late father, insisting that this period should be one of unity, not division.
“We kindly ask the general public, especially the media and social media commentators, to be measured and respectful in their commentary regarding the family, any ongoing legal matters, and the funeral arrangements,” the statement added.
Their clarification follows a lawsuit filed by their mother, Akosua Serwaa, who is seeking legal recognition as the only surviving spouse of Daddy Lumba and the sole person entitled to perform widowhood rites at his funeral.
The dispute stems from plans by the late musician’s external family to hold the final funeral rites on December 6, 2025, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi — a decision Akosua Serwaa claims was made without consulting her or her children.
The children of Akosua Serwaa, however, have made it clear that they will not be drawn into the controversy and are focused solely on ensuring their father receives a peaceful and dignified farewell.
