President John Dramani Mahama has pledged to continue and complete all major infrastructure projects in the Ashanti Region that have been abandoned or stalled due to financial constraints and lack of continuity.
Speaking during a durbar as part of his Thank You Tour of the region, the President reaffirmed his commitment to governance that delivers results, stating clearly that his administration would not abandon existing development efforts.
“Of who started it, we shall continue and complete it. We are a government of continuity and results,” he said.
President Mahama listed several major projects that his government intends to prioritise, including the Kejetia Market Phase II, Suame Interchange, Krofrom and Mamponten markets, the Afari Military Hospital, and the Serwa Regional Hospital.
“Projects we will continue and complete in this region include the Kejetia Market Phase Two project and before I came here, I visited the market and I spoke to the contractors and we’re going to accelerate work on it. And by the grace of God next year, we’ll be able to go with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and open that market,” he stated.
“Under the Big Push, we’re going to continue the Suame Interchange and complete it. By the grace of God, by next year we’ll finish the Krofrom and Mamponten Market. We will complete the Afari Military Hospital and the Serwa Regional Hospital,” he continued.
He also assured the completion of long-delayed health and sports infrastructure: “We’ll also complete the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Maternity and Children’s Block. We’ll rehabilitate the Baba Yara Sports Stadium and we’ll continue and complete the Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Medical Centre.”
The President’s remarks underscore his administration’s “Big Push” infrastructure agenda aimed at ensuring sustained development and addressing gaps in public service delivery across the country.
