President John Dramani Mahama has met his immediate predecessor, former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during a visit to Kwahu as part of the Easter celebrations.
Although Mr. Akufo-Addo did not reveal the purpose of the visit when he posted pictures of the presidential meeting on X, the two men were seen in high spirits as they sat together on a plush couch.
This is their second meeting since President Mahama took office on 7th January, 2025. Mr. Akufo-Addo was present during the scaled down Independence Anniversary celebration at the Jubilee House in March.
“On Sunday, 20th April, 2025, the President of the Republic, H. E. John Dramani Mahama and I met on the lush landscape of Kwahu where, for nearly two decades, I have visited consecutively to mark the sacred period of Easter,” Mr. Akufo-Addo wrote in a post in which he shared four pictures of the visit.
President John Mahama was accompanied by the Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Julius Debrah; Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Awatey, and other members of his administration.
Former President Akufo-Addo warmly greeted the visiting president and Mr. Debrah before taking his seat by his successor.
In a video released by the former president on the visit, the two leaders were seen closely conferring as the Chief of Staff squatted right before them as the trio engaged in a friendly engagement.
Following their engagement, Mr. Akufo-Addo escorted President Mahama to his vehicle where he bid him farewell.
