The Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, has slammed the former Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Inusah Fuseini, for hiding the existence of a bugging device in the office he once occupied from his successors.
The National Security Monday July 1o, 2017 uncovered the secretly planted audio-visual recorder in a huge Coat of Arms plaque hanging in the Minister’s office.
The espionage set up included a camera, a storage unit and another device suspected to be a transmitter.
It is believed to be able to pick a whisper 35-feet away and according to Mr. Fuseini he ordered the installation of the device which was given to him as a gift by one Haruna.
“That was my personal property,” Mr. Fuseini told Francis Abban on Morning Starr Tuesday July 11, 2017 in reply to a direct question regarding the ownership of the spying device.
The apprehension that greeted the development, he believes was uncalled for because the device was not fully installed. “It was not working. The installation was not completed,” he said.
That notwithstanding, Mr. Mensah-Bonsu argued that Mr. Fuseini should have alerted his successors, Nii Osa Mills and John Peter Amewu.
“If indeed it is true, why would he not alert the Minister following after him. If it is predicated on open conscience why would he not inform the person who took over from him?” Mr. Mensah-Bonsu wondered in a radio interview in Accra.
Mr. Fuseini has since apologised for his conduct.
