VIDEO: ‘NAPO said it was time for us to understand modern sexual trends’ – Sam George

Samuel Nartey George, Member of Parliament for the Ningo-Prampram has refuted claims made by the National Patriotic Party’s vice presidential candidate, Matthew Opoku Prempeh that Okudzeto Ablakwa, MP for the North Tongu constituency, introduced Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) under the then NDC government.

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, last week asserted that upon assuming office as Minister of Education, he discovered that the NDC, under the leadership of Okudzeto Ablakwa, had developed a curriculum that included Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) for school children.

Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) is a curriculum-based process designed to teach about the cognitive, emotional, physical, and social aspects of sexuality which include issues of LGBTQ+.

The controversial curriculum faced implementation challenges by the NPP government due to disapproval of its content by a majority of Ghanaians.

Speaking on GHOne TV State of Affairs show with Lantam Papanko on Monday October 7, 2024, Sam George asserted that during the NDC’s tenure in government, Okudzeto Ablakwa served as the deputy minister in charge of tertiary education and had nothing to do with the Comprehensive Sexuality Education which was introduced in basic school education.

Sam George also stated that he has a video of Matthew Opoku Prempeh thanking UNESCO for introducing CSE into the basic school curriculum and that it was time for us to get modern and understand modern sexual trends.

“Okudzeto Ablakwa was deputy minister in charge of tertiary, CSE was introduced in basic school, Okudzeto had absolutely nothing to do with basic education at his time in the ministry.

“I have a video I can share for you to play for your viewers of Matthew Opoku Prempeh thanking UNESCO, he was wearing a blue suit, thanking UNESCO for introducing CSE into the curriculum and that it is time for us to get modern and understand modern sexual trends, NAPO, and this was in 2019, why?” the lawmaker asked.

He also stated that Matthew Opoku Prempeh thanked and received $28,000,000 at the ministry for the introduction of CSE.

“The man himself thanked UNESCO, the man himself at the ministry was the recipient of $28,000,000, so how can he forget that he received $28,000,000, how can he forget he wore a blue suit and stood there and thanked UNESCO for bringing minsters of education from the four regions of Africa and now assume that the deputy minister in charge of tertiary was the one who introduced something for basic education.”
