The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has raised concerns about the credibility of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) following the release of its 200-page report on the National Cathedral Project.
The report recommends the cancellation of the contract and the possible prosecution of the Board of Trustees.
However, CHRAJ’s report cleared the Secretary to the National Cathedral Board of Trustees, Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng, of allegations regarding the possession of dual passports under different names.
Speaking to Starr News, the lawmaker insisted that the CHRAJ report undermines their credibility.
“First, it is clear that the CHRAJ investigation points to the National Cathedral Project lacking all the tenets of due process, good corporate governance, and respect for the laws of our country. Indeed, CHRAJ is saying that the procurement laws were breached. CHRAJ is also confirming that the Central Standards Review Committee’s concurrent approval was not obtained,” he stated.
“CHRAJ is saying in this report that the award of the contract to Ribade Company Ltd was done illegally and that the contract is illegal and void from the outset. CHRAJ is asking the public procurement authorities to move in quickly to cancel this contract. CHRAJ is also saying that this whole National Cathedral Project reeks of corruption and corruption-related offenses due to the aggregate violation of the procurement laws of our country,” he added.
He further urged the Public Procurement Authority to act swiftly to cancel the contract as recommended.
