Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has pledged that the incoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) government will prioritize transparency, accountability, and the voices of Ghanaians.
This commitment comes on the heels of the governing New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) defeat in the 2024 election, largely attributed to their disregard for the Ghanaian people’s concerns.
Speaking to GHOne TV on Monday, December 16, ahead of the Parliamentary sitting, Ablakwa reflected on the election results and the NPP’s defeat.
He stressed that the NDC’s governance would be rooted in transparency, accountability, and a commitment to the people.
Ablakwa reflected on the election outcome, stating that the NPP’s corruption, impunity, arrogance, and refusal to listen to the people led to their downfall.
He emphasised that the NDC has learned from the NPP’s mistakes and is committed to a different approach.
“We are more importantly in the mood for reflection, we are very reflective at this point because what the Ghanaian people have demonstrated, we in the political leadership should be mindful. When you engage in corruption, impunity, arrogance, State capture, intransigent, when you refuse to listen to the people, you’ll be punished at the election. And so in as much as we are in the mood of celebration, we are also reflecting on the importance of this election. That’s why we have resolved to be different.”
“The kind of governance we’ll offer will be a governance of transparency, of accountability, we’ll be above board, we will listen to the people, we’ll make sure we fulfill our promises. Make sure you remained grounded you remain down to earth, you must always be the people, be mindful of where you have come from. Why the Ghanaian people have roundly rejected the NPP and all the things the NPP did that has end them this monumental rejection, this unprecedented disgrace, we must make sure we stay away from that.”
