The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has announced a special initiative to make it easier for Ghanaians to access healthcare under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
As part of the NHIS Active Month campaign, the usual one-month waiting period for newly enrolled members and those renewing membership after more than three months of expiry has been waived. The waiver is effective from now until December 14, 2025.
“This means that all eligible members who renew or enrol during the NHIS Active Month will enjoy immediate access to NHIS services, without the usual waiting period,” the NHIA said in a public notice.
The campaign aims to expand active membership and ensure that no one is left behind in accessing healthcare.
NHIA encouraged members to take advantage of convenient renewal options, including visiting any NHIS District Office, using the MyNHIS App, or dialling the NHIS Mobile Renewal short code *929#. Members can also subscribe to the Auto-Renewal option for added convenience.
“We urge everyone, especially those whose membership has expired for more than three months, to renew promptly and continue enjoying the benefits of quality, affordable healthcare,” the notice added.
