Voting in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries concluded nationwide on Saturday, January 31, 2026, with delegates across the country casting their ballots to select the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.
In the Bono East Region, former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia emerged as the clear frontrunner, securing 5,049 votes (68.8%). He was followed by Dr. Bryan Acheampong, who polled 1,391 votes (18.95%), narrowly edging Kennedy Agyapong, who received 828 votes (11.28%).
Other aspirants trailed significantly, with former Minister for Education Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum obtaining 58 votes (0.79%), and former NPP General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong recording 13 votes (0.18%).

The results from Bono East reaffirm Bawumia’s strong support base in the region while highlighting Bryan Acheampong’s competitive showing over Kennedy Agyapong.
Party officials are now collating results from all regions, with the full national outcome expected soon, which will determine the NPP flagbearer for the 2028 elections.
