NPP Primaries: Bawumia sweeps all constituencies in Western and Western North

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia wins across all constituencies in Western and Western North regions in the NPP presidential primaries.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has emerged the clear frontrunner in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries in the Western and Western North regions, winning in every constituency where results have been declared.

The former Vice President outperformed all other aspirants, including Kennedy Agyapong, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Kwabena Agyepong, consolidating his lead ahead of the national flagbearer contest.

Key results from the regions show:

  • Tarkwa Nsuaem: Bawumia 967, Ken 184, Bryan 55
  • Essikadu-Ketan: Bawumia 423, Ken 182, Bryan 135, Adutwum 6, Agyapong 0
  • Ahanta West: Bawumia 363, Ken 286, Bryan 225
  • Amenfi Central: Bawumia 463, Ken 179, Bryan 140, Adutwum 13
  • Wassa East: Bawumia 299, Ken 230, Bryan 147, Adutwum 5, KAA 2
  • Prestea Huni Valley: Bawumia 853, Ken 256, Bryan 151, Adutwum 1, Agyapong 2
  • Amenfi West: Bawumia 467, Ken 147, Bryan 159, Adutwum 8, Agyepong 1
  • Amenfi East: Bawumia 581, Ken 315, Bryan 155, Adutwum 1, Agyepong 2
  • Effia: Bawumia 343, Ken 63, Bryan 72
  • Ellembelle: Bawumia 515, Ken 165, Bryan 107, Adutwum 1, Agyapong 0
  • Takoradi: Bawumia 462, Ken 96, Bryan 61, Agyepong 1
  • Mpohor: Bawumia 240, Ken 55, Bryan 98
  • Sekondi: Bawumia 392, KOA 81, DBA 39

The results demonstrate widespread support for Bawumia across both regions, giving him a commanding advantage in the NPP flagbearer race for the 2028 elections.

Party officials have praised the peaceful conduct of the primaries and commended delegates for participating actively in the democratic process.

The exercise, held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, saw an estimated 211,000 delegates voting at more than 300 centres to elect the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.
