Majority leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin has been retained as the leader of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Parliament in the 9th parliament.
This decision was made by the NPP’s National Council, which has confirmed its leadership structure for the 9th Parliament.
Afenyo-Markin’s retainment comes after Former National Chairman Freddie Blay, earlier in an interview advised the party to maintain its current leadership, citing their impressive performance in the 8th Parliament.
Afenyo-Markin, who has been the Member of Parliament for Effutu since 2013, previously served as the Deputy Majority Leader and later as the Majority Leader.
The NPP’s leadership lineup for the 9th Parliament also includes Patricia Apiagyei as Deputy Minority Leader, Frank Annoh-Dompreh as Chief Whip, Habib Iddrisu as First Deputy Minority Whip, and David Opoku as Second Deputy Minority Whip.
The party is set to convene a meeting with its Members of Parliament-elect to brief them on their roles and responsibilities ahead of the 9th Parliament’s official opening.
