The Ghana Police Service has apprehended one suspect linked to a daring daylight robbery at a jewellery shop in Adabraka Market, Accra, that took place on Saturday, November 2, 2024, while the hunt continues for the remaining members of the gang.
The incident involved four heavily armed and masked men who targeted a man in a red Toyota Corolla parked near the busy market. Witnesses reported that the robbers approached the vehicle with guns drawn, firing multiple shots into the air to scatter shoppers and traders.
Shoppers and market vendors ducked for cover as gunfire rang out. The robbers forcibly accessed the vehicle, seizing large sacks of cash, and loaded them into a getaway car before fleeing, continuing to fire shots to keep bystanders at a distance.
After months of intelligence-led investigations, police successfully arrested one suspect, while operations continue to locate the other gang members.
Residents have urged authorities to increase police presence in the area to prevent future attacks and ensure public safety.
