The Oti Regional Police Command has intercepted a large shipment of suspected narcotics concealed in a truck in Dambai, highlighting ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking in the region.
Acting on intelligence, officers stopped a DAF Long Trailer with registration number GW 1943-09 on February 10, 2026.
While the truck initially appeared empty, a detailed search revealed it had been modified with secret compartments sealed by six metal plates.
Inside these hidden spaces, police discovered 4,000 parcels of compressed dried leaf substances, wrapped in yellow masking tape, suspected to be illegal drugs.

A 40-year-old man, Amidu Jubril, was arrested at the scene and is assisting authorities with the investigation. The truck has been impounded, and all suspected narcotics have been retained as evidence.
Deputy Superintendent of Police John Nchor, Public Affairs Officer for the Oti Region, assured the public of the police’s commitment, saying, “The Regional Police Command assures the public of its commitment to combating drug trafficking and related offences.”
The seizure represents one of the largest drug busts in the region this year and underscores the ongoing vigilance of the Oti Police Command against criminal networks attempting to exploit the area for illicit trade.
