Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has cemented his place in Ghana’s football history after leading the national team to a second straight FIFA World Cup qualification.
Ghana secured their spot at the 2026 tournament with a hard-fought 1–0 win over Comoros in their final Group I qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 12.
The achievement makes Addo the first coach to guide Ghana to back-to-back World Cup appearances, having also led the team to the 2022 edition in Qatar following their absence in 2018.
This qualification marks Ghana’s fifth appearance at football’s biggest stage. Among African nations, only Cameroon (8), Morocco (7), Tunisia (7), and Nigeria (6) have featured more times at the World Cup.
With Addo at the helm once again, the Black Stars will now shift focus to preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, to be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
