The Black Stars have received a significant boost ahead of their crucial Group L encounter against England, with vice-captain Thomas Partey returning to the squad after missing Ghana’s opening World Cup victory over Panama.
Partey’s availability strengthens Ghana’s options in midfield as the Black Stars prepare for one of their toughest tests of the tournament against the Three Lions.
Speaking ahead of the match, head coach Carlos Queiroz revealed that he is considering notable adjustments to his starting lineup.
“I am confident that our starting lineup against England will be strong enough to get us the result we need to move forward,” Queiroz said.
“I want to introduce a couple of different players in the starting lineup for our game against England. So don’t be surprised tonight when you see some major changes in Ghana’s lineup.”
The veteran coach acknowledged the quality of the English side but remains optimistic about Ghana’s chances of securing a positive result.
Partey, meanwhile, expressed confidence in the team’s preparations as he returns to contention for a place in the starting eleven.
“The team is ready, and I’m feeling okay ahead of the England game,” the midfielder said.
His return brings added experience, leadership and stability to a Ghana side aiming to build on its winning start to the tournament.
Captain Jordan Ayew also called on Ghanaians to continue backing the team as they seek another strong performance on the world stage.
“Without the Ghanaian fans, we are nothing. We want them to keep supporting and pushing us,” Ayew said.
With tactical changes expected, Partey back in the fold and qualification hopes on the line, Ghana heads into the showdown with England determined to make another statement at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
