After years of refining his craft, developing his own musical identity and steadily building a loyal audience, Ghanaian singer and songwriter X Lor has officially released his debut EP, Tornado, marking a defining moment in his career and the public introduction of his original music genre, ABL (Angels Beyond Limitations).
Released today on all major digital streaming platforms, the seven-track project serves as X Lor’s most complete artistic statement to date.
Blending heartfelt storytelling with rich African musical influences, Tornado explores love in all its complexities—from trust and devotion to forgiveness, sacrifice, intimacy, healing and enduring commitment.
For X Lor, the project represents the culmination of years spent searching for a sound that truly reflected his artistic vision.
“TORNADO is a deeply personal body of work that showcases years of musical experimentation and growth, helping shape my own sound and genre, ABL. The EP explores themes of love, unconditional devotion, forgiveness, second chances, loyalty, and the beauty of choosing one person wholeheartedly.”
The EP opens with “I Gotchu,” a record built around faith, reassurance and emotional security, encouraging listeners to embrace love without allowing fear or doubt to dictate their decisions.
“It encourages listeners to let themselves be loved completely without fear, doubt, or emotional barriers. Even during times of uncertainty, you only need to give in to the unknown and trust that the universe will make it beautiful.”
From there, Tornado takes listeners through a range of emotional experiences.
The title track celebrates admiration, romance and the beauty of melanin, while “By 7” reflects on longing and the hope that love can withstand difficult moments. “They Nuh Fi Know” examines intimacy and the importance of privacy within relationships, and “On My Mind” expresses unwavering loyalty and the comfort of having someone who remains a constant source of support.
The mood shifts with “Go Away,” which captures the painful decision to walk away from a relationship in pursuit of personal peace, before the project closes with “Till the End,” an intimate expression of lasting affection, passion and commitment.
Reflecting on the significance of the project, X Lor said Tornado carries a message that extends beyond entertainment.
“TORNADO is a collection of emotions, experiences, and perspectives on love in its many forms—its beauty, its challenges, its sacrifices, and its lasting impact. This project was successfully brought to life through the Lord and higher spiritual forces. Physically, I was merely a vessel used to convey the message.”
He also acknowledged the collective effort behind the release, paying tribute to everyone who contributed to its success.
“My team also did an incredible job, with my Executive Manager, Richard Boahene, playing a significant role in bringing this vision to life.”
The release also shines a spotlight on ABL (Angels Beyond Limitations), the musical philosophy X Lor created after realizing his artistry could not be confined to a single genre. By blending Afrobeats, Highlife, R&B, Soul, Gospel and contemporary African influences, ABL seeks to promote authenticity, emotional honesty, spirituality and creative freedom.
Since making his professional debut in 2018, X Lor has quietly established himself as one of Ghana’s promising independent artists. His single “By 7” has surpassed 100,000 streams across digital platforms, while his songwriting résumé includes collaborations with Mya Sima, Naja and Whitnee Dee. He has also contributed songwriting, vocal arrangements and vocal production assistance to Guru and Akan, and has shared the stage with KiDi, Mr Drew and Coco Vanilla.
Away from the music industry, X Lor has built an equally impressive career in technology. A graduate of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) with a degree in Information Technology specializing in Database Administration, he currently works in the Cybersecurity Unit of GCB Bank PLC.
Tornado features production from Beat Vampire (Craze), Master Maison, Bamba Beats, Madtunes, Jaemally and Trevor Beats, while Gigz Beat and PSM Beats handled the project’s mixing and mastering.
With Tornado now available worldwide, X Lor takes another significant step toward establishing ABL as more than a genre, but a movement rooted in creativity, spirituality and authentic storytelling that aims to resonate with audiences across cultures and borders.
