Pastors visiting ‘lying’ Bawumia to congratulate him problematic – Yamin

National Organizer of the NDC, Joseph Yamin, is accusing pastors who are rushing to congratulate Dr. Mahmoud Bawumia after he was elected leader and flagbere of the NPP but rather fail to criticize him and point out his lies to Ghanaians.

Speaking on Ultimate FM in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Yamin said, just as Christianity teaches believers to abide by the truth he finds it very curious why pastors fail to tell the NPP the truth and also Dr. Bawumia lies, and he continues to give in his communication to Ghanaians.

The NDC leader thinks the pastors are just pushing their own personal agenda’s with Bawumia, which can be said to be partisan politics in nature and not upholding the gospel.

“Christians are supposed to speak to leadership, especially when leadership is not been truthful to its members, ever since Bawumia became vice president of the Republic, he has made promises and have never for filed any of them, these pastors have never seen anything wrong with the constant lies by Bawumia and they see nothing wrong with it and will shamelessly go and congratulate him”

“These are not men of God going to do the bidding of the faith they believe in, but rather, they are advancing their political interest. Bawumia camp to cut sod for an interchange in Kumasi here nothing like that is happening, the people are waiting to see the interchange at Suame and these preachers are not worried why somebody who wants to be president after being a vice president who is not a Christian will always lie to his people just to deceive them” he said.

The Opposition National Organizer is urging Christians to be watchful of these politicians draped in religious apparel.

“Christians must shine their eyes; Christians must look deep into the actions of these pastors and find out whether indeed it is in the interest of this nation or their parochial interest. Why are we turning Christianity into people’s own beliefs or agenda as against the interest of the nation?”

“I am so much disappointed in these Christian leaders who moved out there to congratulate Dr. Bawumia, I see nothing wrong with them going to congratulate him, but did they do that for their own brother in faith John Dramani Mahama when he was elected?”

“Is it that they don’t share the ideology of the NDC or they don’t like the NDC as a political party and for that matter will rather prefer a Muslim to be their leader as against one of their own, is so amazing and disgraceful to the faith that we believe in as Christians these pastors are not serving the interest of the God we serve but rather seeking their interest and advancing their political interest?

He has, however, called them to be open with their type of politics and not hide behind the cloak and pulpit.

“They should let us know in clear terms their stance advancing their political interest rather than try to be hypocrites, they should let us know they are NPP so that when we are responding to them, we will not be tagged as responding to leaders of our faith but rather responding to politicians so that people do not see our response to them as an attack on the Christian faith but an attack of individual leaders of the Christian faith who are so corrupt and want to use their corrupt nature to deceive the Christian faith , we will stand up and fight for the Christian faith”

“We will expose these pastors and let everybody know that they are not fighting the faith we believe in but fighting their own political interest”.
