A Political Analyst, Dr. Jonathan Asante-Otchere, has praised the largest opposition party, NPP for its decision to establish a Patriotic Institute aimed at guiding appointments in future NPP-led governments.
This comes after the party announced that obtaining certification from the newly established institute will be a mandatory requirement for anyone seeking appointments in future NPP administrations.
At the launch of the Institute, NPP General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua revealed that the Patriotic Institute will offer both online and in-person training programmes.
He stated that participation will be compulsory for all presidential aspirants, parliamentary candidates, and party executives.
Speaking to Tutuwaa Danso on StarrToday on Wednesday, June 25, Dr. Asante-Otchere stressed that the move could enhance meritocracy and institutional memory within the party’s governance structure.
“If you say that going forward, anyone who wants to receive appointments under a future NPP government would have to go through that particular institute, then that’s a good idea. However, the reality is that we don’t even know when the NPP will return to power.

You also need to understand that I’m not sure whether the process will be computerized or conducted in person — the devil is in the details. That said, I sincerely believe that those who subscribe to liberal democracy must go through the necessary processes to fully grasp and appreciate the principles the NPP stands for. It’s only through this understanding that they can effectively contribute when the party is in government.
Overall, I believe the initiative you’ve proposed is sound — but again, the devil is in the detail.”
