Renowned Ghanaian reggae and Afro-roots artist, Rocky Dawuni, has once again made waves in the global music scene with his fourth Grammy nomination, cementing his position as the most nominated Ghanaian artist in Grammy history.

Dawuni’s single, Rise, has earned a nod in the prestigious Best Global Music Performance category for the 2025 Grammy Awards, hosted by the Recording Academy. Known for his blend of reggae, Afrobeat, and socially conscious lyrics, Dawuni has long been a respected voice both in Ghana and on the international stage. This latest nomination underscores his influence and commitment to spreading African music worldwide.

Dawuni’s Grammy journey began in 2016 with his album “Branches of the Same Tree”, which earned a nomination in the Best Reggae Album category. This recognition marked a significant moment, as Dawuni became the first Ghanaian artist ever nominated for a Grammy, bringing international attention to African reggae and global fusion music. His style, a unique blend of reggae, Afrobeat, and Ghanaian highlife, is often referred to as “Afro Roots” and has gained him a loyal following around the world.

He received his second Grammy nomination in 2021 with “Voice of Bunbon, Vol. 1”, in the Best Global Music Album category, a new space created to highlight music from diverse cultural backgrounds. His third nomination followed in 2023 with the track “Neva Bow Down,” also in the Best Global Music Performance category, showcasing his consistent artistry and ability to stay relevant in a rapidly evolving music landscape.

Dawuni’s Grammy history reflects a career dedicated to connecting cultures and addressing social issues, making him not only a celebrated musician but also a symbol of pride for Ghana. Fans and supporters around the world eagerly await the Grammy ceremony, set for early 2025, hoping to see him bring home the award that would be yet another historic achievement.
