The Sports and Recreation Minister, Kofi Iddie Adams, has inaugurated an Inter-Ministerial Technical Working Group to steer Ghana’s preparations ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The team will coordinate all activities required to position the Black Stars for a strong showing at the global tournament while leveraging the event to advance national interests.
The Minister tasked the Working Group with overseeing the country’s readiness in key areas such as logistics, facilities, and the overall participation of the senior men’s national team.

Beyond football, the committee will also work to showcase Ghana’s tourism potential and highlight economic opportunities to the millions of global audiences expected to engage with the World Cup.
As part of its mandate, the Committee will strengthen bilateral and multilateral partnerships with nations, institutions, organizations, and influential stakeholders connected to the tournament. It is also expected to help attract and direct sports-related investments into Ghana.

The Committee is tasked with ensuring that Ghana not only competes effectively on the pitch but also reaps the cultural, economic, and social benefits associated with participating in the World Cup.
The inter-ministerial working group will develop a roadmap to guide activities leading to the event, including fundraising and sponsorship campaigns, team preparation, training and friendly matches, media and public sensitization campaigns, trade and investment events, and tourism and cultural initiatives.

The Working Group will work closely with all relevant state and non-state partners to raise awareness, garner public support, mobilize resources, and facilitate the participation of the national team and other stakeholders in the 2026 World Cup.
