The general secretary of the New Patriotic Party Justin Fimpong Kodua has called on the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama to call members of his party to order especially in some constituencies whose results are under contention
Addressing a news conference he alleged that the NDC is coercing officials of the Electoral Commission to do the NDC’s bidding.
He indicated that per their data, the incumbent Member of Parliament for the Damongo Constituency Samuel Abdulai Jinapor was leading by 1860 votes.
He said the NPP was leading in Ahafo Ano South-West by 677; Fanteakwa North by 450; Trobu 8900; Akwatia 2088 and Obuasi East by 28 votes.
He added that the party had taken the lead in Ablekuma North with 400 votes with the party winning by a 3176 voter gap in Techiman South and in Tema Central with 55 votes.
Justin Kodua asked the flagbearer of the NDC whom he referred to as the President-elect to be magnanimous in safeguarding the peace the country has maintained over the years.
Before the Chair of the Electoral Commission will officially declare results for the parliamentary and presidential elections, the Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has conceded in both elections and congratulated the former president John Dramani Mahama.
It is the first time a major contender in an election has made such a concession in a record time of 14 hours after the close of polls.
