The recent press conference of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is a wake-up call, a call to vigilance. Security analyst, Dr. Adam Bonaa has said.

Following the NDC’s press conference on the ‘The NPP’s Rigging Plot’, on Monday, November 19, 2024, Mr. Bonah is calling on Ghanaians to respond to the matter with all urgency.

The National Democratic Congress is alleging that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) wants to use Brigadier-General Micheal Opoku, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Central Command of the Ghana Armed Forces, to rig the election for the ruling party by stuffing ballot boxes in the Ashanti Region, on December 7.

The NDC said that it had evidence that Brigadier-Gener¬al Opoku’s residence in Kumasi was currently being used as a safe haven for storage of weapons and electoral materials, which the NPP intended to use to subvert the will of voters.

Speaking on Morning Starr with Lily Mohammed, Mr. Bonaa therefore called on the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, to act on the matter with immidieate effect. He also called on the Ghana Armed Forces to respond to the claims and state their stance as well.

‘The Ghana Armed Force should react. The president also, should react since he is the Commander in Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces. We have come to a crossroad and with that, and if we will not do these things, are we waiting for something bad to happen?” he said. ‘The military should have come out by now…they are supposed to tell us that such a thing will not happen.” He added.

He also called on the National Security Minister, Kan Dapaah, and the Chief of Army Staff to speak to the claims. “Someone must talk’ The analyst insisted.

Dr. Bonaa therefore, called on all Ghanaians to be alert and vigilant as far as the upcoming election is concerned.
