Suspended Chief Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo made her first appearance before the five-member committee established by President John Dramani Mahama to investigate three petitions seeking her removal from office.
She was absent from the committee’s inaugural meeting on May 15 but attended the second meeting on May 22, accompanied by her counsel, including former Attorney General Joseph Ayikoi Otoo.
Notably, on May 21, the suspended CJ, through another former Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, filed a suit challenging the committee’s composition, led by Justice Gabriel Pwamang.
Starrfm.com.gh gathered that Justice Torkornoo’s team informed the committee about the Supreme Court action, but the committee had not been served with the court processes at the time.
The sitting has been adjourned to May 23, 2025.
