Former Black Stars player Frimpong Manso has urged Ghanaians and the GFA to have faith in local coaches for the Black Stars job. Ghana is in search of a new coach after the sacking of Milovan Rajevac following the shambolic performance of Black Stars in the just ended AFCON tournament in Cameroon.
The last local based coach to have handled the Black Stars was Charles Kwabena Akonnor who was relieved off his post by the FA following an uninspiring performance in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
“We’ve tried foreign coaches and they couldn’t win us a trophy so Ghanaians should trust in local coaches and encourage them to develop. Aliou Cisse of Senegal did not have it easy, he went through hell before he won a trophy.” he said.
The former Black Stars defender added that the Ghana FA must focus on the development of local coaches.
“We must help in the development of local coaches because it will benefit the entire nation. White coaches comes with high cost and that money can be used to develop our local football”
Ghana’s next assignment is the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers play-offs against Nigeria in March.
